When I Count My Blessings
Last year I started a gratitude journal thanking God for my daily blessings. When I first started my journal I wrote about the obvious things that I'm grateful for such as Jesus, salvation, life, family, health, food and protection. This took all of a few minutes and a few lines. However, after several months of daily writing, along with daily reflections I now spend over 30 minutes and stop at two pages each day though I could write more. First, I begin by praising and thanking God for who He is. Then, I name and claim all my blessings. I thank God for all He has done, all He is doing, all He will do, and all I am desiring for Him to do. God's great love and blessings for His children are infinite because He richly blesses each of us. When I count my blessings each day, I realize how truly blessed I am. I am reminded of God's promise that "My cup runs over," Psalm 23:5. So, rather than complaining each day, I express gratitude and thank God for his many blessings.
