The Joy of Summer
There are many things I love about summer. I love early morning walks, delicious summer fruits, fresh garden vegetables, backyard cookouts, road trips, colorful sunsets and ice cream on hot summer days. Summer for me is reminiscent of the carefree years of childhood when life was simple, free from worries and responsibilities. However, one of my greatest joys of summer is enjoying nature's beauty. Although I don't have a green thumb, I love to garden. I love beautiful flowers, the benefits and relaxation that gardening brings. Caring for plants give me peace and quiet meditation time with God. Selective plants purify, give fragrance and beautifies the environment. This extraordinary beauty, with its variety of colors, shapes, textures and designs all point to God as Creator. John 1:3 states, " Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." God as the creator of all things shows us His glory in His magnificent work.
Scripture tells us "for since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made so that people are without excuse (Romans 1:20)." So, when we see and enjoy nature's beauty in summer and every season, we are seeing God's glory! It is the true joy of summer.
