Who Can Compare?

I had a dream about mama a few nights ago. She was beautiful, impeccably dressed with flawless makeup. She was driving a colorful minivan and I was riding along with her. I can't recall every detail that happened in this dream, but I do know it was a vision that captured mama's nature. She was her usual no nonsense comical self as she offered her motherly words of wisdom. We laughed as she drove down the road. It was an odd but delightful dream. It was odd because mama did't drive.

Mama went to be with the Lord 26 years ago. She is loved and still dearly missed. This Mother's Day, as I think of mama and her unconditional love for her family, I ask, "Who can compare?" Scripture says, "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her" (Proverbs 31:28).This describes my mama.

As children of God, we too can ask, "Who can compare?" The answer is no one. "Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours" (Psalm 86:8). This describes sovereign Lord who loves us unconditionally.
