Thank You Dad

Recently, I asked my two adult daughters what are some things that they are thankful to their dad for. Some of their answers were typical, such as being thankful for his love and care for them, their mom and family; thankful for him being an excellent leader, provider, adviser and protector for the family. Also, for teaching them many things including: how to ride their bikes, taking care of their puppy, Lisa and the importance of family by spending quality time and taking them to school every morning. One of their fondest memories was enjoying family road trips and annual summer vacations. Every year they looked forward to enjoying playtime at the beach and exploring the theme parks.

They stated that their father has set the bar high for what they should expect in a husband, and in a father for their children. Their father has taught them to value themselves as women, just as God values them. They are thankful that their father knows and loves God. He has taught them what a godly father, a family unit and family life should look like. Looking back, they are thankful that their dad is so well rounded and able to do so many different things including: home repairs, building projects, landscaping, cooking and finances. They added that he still makes sure that their cars are serviced and cared for.

Everyone should thank their earthly fathers for the things that they have done. However, whether you know your earthly father or not, we have our God and Creator who has done all things. He tells us, " I will be a father to you and you shall be sons and daughters to Me" (2 Corinthians 6:18). Our heavenly Father is the great "I Am." He is all that we need. Therefore, we should always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Christ Jesus (Ephesians 5:20).
