A Lesson on Gratitude

This month as we focus on the Thanksgiving holiday, we go deeper. We discuss that thanks giving is more than an annual feast day at a dinner table surrounded by loved ones and friends. But, thanks giving also known as gratitude is an act of public celebration of God’s divine goodness. It is a biblical principle that reminds us to develop a daily lifestyle of giving thanks to God!

Whenever I think about all that God has done for me, I’m always overwhelmed at where to begin thanking and praising Him! God is so amazing, so faithful, so loving, so gracious, so merciful and so kind to us! He is always with us, guiding us, caring for us, providing for us, protecting us and blessing us! Even though we don’t deserve it, He sent His son to die for our sin (John 3:16). He has a wonderful plan for each of us! It is hard to give words of gratitude for all God has done for us all. But Psalm 103:2-6 is a great start. It says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” “And the Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed!” Only God is worthy of all glory and praise, but we are to show gratitude in all things!

A quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero says, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but it is the parent of all other virtues!" While there are many powerful quotes on gratitude, the Bible teaches us everything we need to know!

This month MDL teaches a lesson on gratitude. We focus on scriptures and powerful quotes that help us to develop a daily lifestyle of gratitude.

Thank You Ms. Pat and Ms. Lena!

I just finshed listening to A Lesson On Gratitude. This was a lesson I needed. I began a graitude journal several years ago prompted by a book study some friends and I were going through together. The goal was to list 1000 gifts from God. If I recall correctly, I made it close to 900 and then stopped. I cannot remember why I stopped. I guess life became too busy or too difficult for me to pick up my journal and write at least one thing to be grateful for. As you both reiterated, no matter how hard life gets, we still have so many reasons to be grateful to God.

I love…
