For many people, Thanksgiving is just a holiday. It is an annual day reserved for feasting on a bounty of rich, savory and delectable foods. Much time and effort has been spent focusing on and preparing the perfect menu. Many will enjoy this wonderful meal with family and friends. Although giving thanks is the theme of the day, true thankfulness may be more of an after-thought for some, rather than the central focus.
However, the meaning of thanksgiving is more than an annual meal surrounded by love ones. It is an act of giving thanks, a public celebration of divine goodness. Thanksgiving should be a daily lifestyle of giving thanks to God. Scripture says to be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Therefore, since we are blessed daily, we should rejoice and give thanks daily.
