The fall season is here again. It’s a season we readily welcome for the amazingly beautiful colorful foliage and the much-appreciated temperature cool down. An applicable quote by Lee Maynard says, "Fall is the season of the year that God seemed to have put here just for the beauty of it."

But fall is also a season for reflections, reflections on the seasons of the past, reflections on our life’s seasons and changes, and for self-introspection.

What does a time of reflection mean? Like looking in a mirror, reflection means our personal-evaluation, pausing to think about our past actions, thoughts and feelings. It’s a time for careful consideration of one’s behaviors, motivations and desires. It’s a time to reflect on personal growth and a time of planning for the future. Over all, it is a time to gain a deeper understanding of self and all things!

What makes the fall season a time for reflection? Fall is a time to slow down. It’s a less busy, quieter time to prepare for renewal. Research shows that the shortening days invite us into a period of inner contemplation. Many writers and thinkers have connected the season of autumn with introspection and the human soul. A beautiful quote from “A Christ Follower for Life” Blog– says, “As the colorful leaves fall and the air grows crisp, fall is more than just a season—it's a reminder. It's a call to reflect on life's blessings, to be patient in our journey, and to appreciate the beauty in change.”

In this month’s Podcast we will discuss fall as a time for reflection. God’s word tells us there is a time for everything and a season for everything under the heavens (Eccle. 3:1). All things should include a reflection on God’s Word. It is His word that will sustain us through all things in every season!

As we think about the beauty of fall, we’re reminded of a wonderful quote by Stanley Horowitz that says, "If winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, then autumn a mosaic of them all."

Finally, during our time of reflection, let us remember that every season is a time to reflect on God’s Word.
