God's Beauty

Recently as I stared out my breakfast room window, I observed a huge colorful butterfly perched on top of a giant elephant ear (plant) leaf. It’s color and design was so vibrant that it almost appeared to be artificial. I walked outside to get a closer look at the beautiful specimen. It was real! I sat and observed it for several minutes until the roaring sounds of my husband’s lawn mower startled it, causing it to flutter away.

Like observing this beautiful butterfly, when we stop to observe all of God’s handiwork, we notice that His beauty is all around us. Many passages in scripture reminds us of this. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. For His invisible attributes namely his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived ever since the creation of the world, in things that have been made, so people are without excuse, Romans 1:20.

So, as we look at the beauty around us, we can simply recall God’s word. For He tells us, “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.” “Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?” Job 12:7-9. Our sovereign Lord tells us that He saw everything that He had made, and behold it was very good. Genesis 1:31.
