Peace
Each day when I write in my gratitude journal, I thank God for His peace and joy in my life. Peace. It is defined as a state of quiet; calm; repose; public tranquility; freedom from war. Peace is an elusive noun that people the world over have been searching for since the beginning of time. Though stress and worry has been compounded in 2020 by a global pandemic, racial injustice, social unrest, the chaos of a presidential election, and more, it is no different. People desire peace now more than ever.
As we approach the Christmas season, we are not to fret but remember why the Lord sent His Son Jesus. Isaiah 9:6-7 says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.”
So as believers, the Lord reminds us that He has already given us His peace, not as the world gives, and we are not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid, John 14:27. All we need to do is thank Him.
