Thank You Heroes
Last year at the start of the Pandemic, my husband and I posted “Thank You” signs on our mailbox and trash/recycling dumpsters thanking our mail carriers and environmental service workers for their selfless dedication and commitment. We let them know that their services were appreciated and that we were praying for them and their families’ safety and protection.
For over the past year and a half, there have been many individuals who have courageously continued to work and serve us all. These are the essential workers we depend on daily. They include the medical professionals, researchers, military, first responders (police, fireman, EMT services), grocers, food services, farmers, delivery workers/truckers, utility workers, manufacturers, postal workers, communications/media workers, environmental service workers, maintenance workers, teachers, ministers and the list goes on. These workers have helped us to maintain a semblance of normal life. They have served to help keep us healthy, safe, protected, provided, informed, taught and ministered to. We should all be grateful for all of our essential workers. For they are our servant heroes. For this, I say “Thank You Heroes”!
As Believers, we should be as dedicated as the essential worker as we faithfully serve others. We are reminded in 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”.
Finally, essential workers and everyone who diligently serve others are in good company. Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself served and gave His life serving others. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
